Obaidul warns party rogues of tough actions

“If there is any indiscipline or anomaly or any misdeed in our party, we will deal the issues with an iron hand. Reiterating his firm stand against party indiscipline, Quader said, “We no longer want to let Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) to make headlines for any misdeeds” Quader said this while holding a closed-door meeting with the top brass of the Chittagong units of Awami League and the BCL for resolving the internal disputes. The hour-long clandestine meeting was held yesterday at the city’s Chasma Hill residence of the former city mayor and Chittagong city Awami League President ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury. Chittagong University Vice Chancelloe Dr Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury, Central Organising Secretary Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, Deputy Inspector General for Chittagong Range Shafiqul Islam, Chittagong DC Shamsul Arefin, CMP Additional Commissioner Devdas Bhattacharya, Chittagong SP Noor-E-Alam Mina, Chittagong city BCL President Imran Ahmed Imu and Secretary Nurul Azim Rony and Chittagong University BCL Secretary Fazle Rabbi Sujan, among others, attended the meeting. Prof Dr Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury said the BCL members locked in clash over trivial issues which tarnishes the image of the government, Awami League and above all the country. Former city mayor and Chittagong city unit Awami League President ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury said they had held a meeting in a bid to sink the differences and strengthen party unity. In the morning, the minister said people of the country might face more suicidal attacks in the coming days. The minister made the comments after visiting development works of Fatehpur rail overpass at Feni Sadar upzila. He said: “People of the country should resist the militancy under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
