Hanif: Khaleda Zia’s Vision 2030 bogus

Ruling Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif has dubbed BNP chief Khaleda Zia’s Vision 2030 “meaningless”.

He made the scathing remark at a press conference in Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi office yesterday.

Awami League organised the media briefing to announce third phase of the party’s chairmen candidates for the Union Parishad polls scheduled for March 22.

Khaleda unveiled her party’s Vision 2030 to turn Bangladesh into a higher middle-income country while addressing the inaugural session of BNP’s sixth national council in Dhaka yesterday.

“Has she [Khaleda] apologised for arson? So how can she dream that her party will come to power and make Bangladesh a higher developed country by 2030. It is a meaningless message and attempt to mislead the people,” Hanif said.

People are more alert now and will not be misled by her message, he added.

Terming the BNP’s council eyewash, the Awami League Leader said: “The people have interest in this council as the BNP as a party is like “hotchpotch” because nobody is clear who is leading it –  Khaleda, her son Tarique Rahman or the Jamaat-e-Islami?”
