Witty president, charmed delegation

As Khaleda Zia and other delegation members entered Bangabhaban, Wahidul Islam Khan, an additional secretary to personal wing of Bangabhaban, welcomed them around 4:30pm and took them to the Darbar Hall for the meeting. Upon entering, President Hamid asked Khaleda: “How are you doing?” Khaleda responded: “I am so, so.” The president also asked about her health. “We used to see each other when we were in parliament. Nowadays we are too far away,” he said. The atmosphere turned festive as the president entertained BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and her party’s delegation with fish fingers, chicken patties, sandwiches, sandesh and peanuts during talks over formation of the next Election Commission, reports the UNB quoting BNP leaders and sources at the presidential residence. Later, the president approached every BNP leader individually and exchanged warm greetings in a jovial manner. Shaking hands with Moudud, Hamid said: “Hey murubbi, how are you?” A smiling Moudud replied: “Not bad.” Moudud also enquired about the president’s wellbeing and said: “You are getting younger day by day!” When the president moved to Moyeen Khan, he said to Khaleda: “Do you know he [Moyeen] is my grandson-in-law?” Khaleda replied in surprise: “Oh, is it?” According to Bangabhaban insiders, the president was in a very good mood during the whole discussion.
