There is no possibility of deferring the national council of the Awami League at present, said Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraful Islam yesterday.
"The national council of our party will be held as per schedule. If situation compels or any issue arises to force us to defer the council, then it will be discussed at the central working committee meeting,” the ruling party's general secretary told reporters during a visit to the site of the divisional commissioner's office in Mymensingh.
He further said: “Townships like that of a developed country will be constructed on both the banks of the Brahmaputra River.”
The minister said everything will be done for the development and expansion of the division and its headquarters in accordance with the expectations of Mymensingh-dwellers.
Asked about the possible location of the division office, Syed Ashraf said: "The divisional headquarters would be established at the best possible place here."
After his meeting with the officers of the administration at the Circuit House, the minister visited China Morh of Charkalibari village on the other bank of Brahmaputra River and the embankment area of the river at Charishwardia village.
