Newly-appointed Jatiya Party (JaPa) Co-Chairman GM Quader has said majority presidium members present in today's meeting have agreed to leave the cabinet.
“JaPa Chairman Hussain Mohammed Ershad will take the final decision to quit the cabinet,” GM Quader also said.
Quader made the statement following a party meeting held in the JaPa chair's Banani office on Sunday, reports Bangla Tribune, a sister concern of Dhaka Tribune.
Currently, three JaPa leaders are enjoying ministerial onus in the cabinet.
In line with the move, the leaders approved the appointment of GM Quader and Ruhul Amin Hawlader as the party's co-chairman and secretary general respectively.
Though the party's chairman HM Ershad presided over the meeting that ended at about 3pm, his wife and presidium member Raushan Ershad was not present there.
Some 23 of 37 presidium members attended the meeting which started through boycotting by Raushan-led presidium members.
Hawlader said national council of JaPa is going to be held in Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka on April 16.
About the absence of Raushan, he said she and her followers were busy with official tasks and that was why they failed to attend the meeting.
