A local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) has been killed in a factional clash between two groups of BCL activists at Falia Para of Ukhiya upazila of the district.
The deceased is M Shaeein, 22, son of M Kalu, a resident of the area. Shahin was the joint convener of Ukhiya Degree College unit of BCL.
Two groups of the upazila unit of BCL got locked in an altercation over establishing supremacy at a fair organised by Upazila Tanti League, said Officer-in-Charge of Ukhiya police station M Habibur Rahman.
A clash ensued between the two rival groups centering the issue around 1am Friday, leaving Shaheen dead on the spot and two others injured.
The injured were whisked off to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
