A Dhaka court has asked BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to appear before it on March 3 in a sedition case filed for her recent comment about the number of Liberation War martyrs.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Rashed Talukdar passed the order on Monday.
Earlier in the day, lawyer Momtaz Uddin Ahmed Mehedi filed the case with the court.

The case was filed after getting approval from the Home Ministry. On Sunday, the Home Ministry gave approval to file the case.
During a discussion on December 21 last year, Khaleda Zia said there were doubts about whether three million people really got killed during the 1971 Liberation War. She also alleged that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman wanted to become the prime minister of undivided Pakistan rather than leading the nation to independence.

These comments sparked massive criticism. Two days later, lawyer Momtaz Uddin Ahmed Mehedi served a legal notice to the BNP chief, asking her to issue an “unconditional apology.”
Having not got any reply, last week Mehedi filed a plea with the Home Ministry seeking clearance to file a sedition case against Khaleda.
