A mayoral candidate of Madhabpur municipality in the district was fined with Tk30,000 yesterday for violating electoral code and conduct in the upcoming polls.
Local sources said the supporters of Habibur Rahman Manik, the mayoral candidate from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, had brought out a procession in the district town with live sheaf of paddy violating the code and conduct.
Returning Officer Rashedul Islam fined the candidate the money for the offence.
