AL leader killed

The deceased was Rafiqul Islam Farid, 55, former AL organizing secretary of the upazila unit. Liza Begum, wife of Rafiqul said her husband worked as manager at a mill under Kagmaripara in the upazila. On Monday morning, he went to the mill and did not return home. Locals found the silted body of Rafiqul on Tuesday morning in a pond near his house and informed police. The police recovered the body and sent it to Tangail Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. Officer-in-Charge of Bhuapur police station Mostofa Kamal said miscreants killed Rafiqul anywhere at night and later dumped the body in the pond. A knife was recovered from the spot, the OC added. Liza demanded exemplary punishment to the killers of her husband. The OC told the Dhaka Tribune that the police were trying to arrest the miscreants.
