The nomination papers of Krishak Shramik Janata League (KSJL) President Abdul Kader Siddique for the Tangail 4 by-polls has been cancelled on Tuesday.
Tangail 4 by-polls Returning Officer Md Alimuzzaman confirmed the news and said Bir Uttam Kader Siqqique's construction company Sonar Bangla Engineering had took a loan of Tk10.88 crore from Agrani Bank and he is chairman of the company while his wife is a director.

The company was declared defaulter by Credit Information Bureau of Bangladesh Bank and the loan defaulters are not eligible to contest the by-polls, Alimuzzaman continued.
Protesting the decision, local KSJL activists have brought out a procession there and it has called a dawn to dusk hartal for Wednesday in the district. Later, they called it off follwoing an order of the party chief.
Besides, the candidature of his wife Nasrin Kader Siddique as well as main opposition Jatiya Party-backed candidate and another were dismissed on different grounds.

The nomination papers of JaPa-blessed contestant Sayed Mostaque Hossain was cancelled to have failed to submit party nomination papers for the race.
And independent candidate Abdul Ali met the same fate being failed to get the support from 1% of the voters for the elections.
On the other hand, four candidates including the ruling party Awami League-backed candidate Hasan Imam Khan Sohel Hazari were given green signal for the polls following scrutinizing their papers.
Also KSJL-backed candidate Hasmat Ali and Bangladesh Nationalist Front-blessed contestant Ataur Rahman can take part in the election as they have been able to submit the income tax papers in the given time as per the order of the commission.

The Election Commission has fixed October 28 for holding the by-polls in the constituency which fell vacant following the resignation of sacked minister Abdul Latif Siddique on September 1.
In last year, the former Tangail 4 lawmaker and also telecom minister Latif faced severe criticism from different quarters after making untoward remarks about Hajj and Tabligh Jamaat at a programme in the USA.
