14-party: Khaleda’s London visit linked to murders of foreigners

Leaders of the ruling 14-party alliance yesterday said Khaleda Zia’s visit to London seemed to have a link to the murders of two foreign nationals.

Terming Khaleda’s visit to London mysterious they said her tour was a part of conspiracy against the government.

The ruling alliance leaders demanded BNP Chief Khaleda Zia’s London visit be investigated along with Jamaat’s link to the foreign nationals’ killings.

They made the demand while addressing a discussion marking the 39th founding anniversary of Gono Azadi League at the National Press Club yesterday.

The programme was chaired by Gono Azadi League General Secretary SA Sikdar.

Something bad befell the country whenever Khaleda Zia went abroad in the past. The recent foreigners’ killings are no different too,” said Health Minister and Awami League Presidium Member Mohammad Nasim.

Nasim called Khaleda’s eldest son and BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman the principle architect of the grenade attack on August 21, 2004.

“So it must be investigated if there is any connection between Khaleda’s meeting with Tarique in London and killings of foreigners,” he demanded.

Nasim, also spokesperson of the 14-party alliance, said the BNP’s stand is crystal clear: the BNP speaks for Liberation War, but it’s always depended on anti-Liberation Jamaat.
