BNP calls Sheikh Hasina helpless prime minister

The main political opposition BNP yesterday called Sheikh Hasina a helpless prime minister.

It is unfortunate that the prime minister has included people in her cabinet who once wanted to minus her from the party,  Asaduzzaman Ripon, acting spokesperson of the party, said.

Hasanul Huq Inu, deputy chief of Gono Bahini, an armed wing of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, who acted as a catalyst for Sheikh Mujib murder, was inducted into the cabinet, he said.

“How helpless she is that she had to induct Inu into the cabinet. We can not but express our sympathy for her,” Ripon said in a mocking tone.

Addressing a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan headquarters after holding a joint meeting with the front and associated bodies the BNP leader said BNP was barred from observing its founding anniversary across the country.

Ripon alleged that Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (Jasas) wanted to launch a blood donation campaign on the premises of Ziaur Rahman’s grave but police obstructed.

At least in 50 districts and 400 upazilas BNP men were prevented from putting up posters by Awami League men and police, he alleged.

“When Inu’s ministerial position becomes shaky he launches into a tirade against Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia. It is probably Inu’s perception that the prime minister is delighted at his derogatory comments on Ziaur Rahman, Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman.”
