BNP has slammed the government for hiking prices of gas, electricity.
The decision of hiking gas and electricity tariff is illogical, said Asaduzzaman Ripon, acting spokesperson of the party.
Ripon came up with party’s reaction over the government’s decision of hiking prices of gas, electricity at a press briefing at party's Nayapaltan headquarters in the capital on Saturday.
“When prices of oil drops in international market, price hike of gas and electricity that time is illogical and unacceptable,” said Ripon.
And for this, the middle and lower income group peoples' sufferings will increase, he said.
The BNP leader said not only the common people but the country's economy will also suffer after it.
Though the party has opposed the government's decision of hiking the prices of gas and electricity, the party refrained from announcing any programme.
When asked whether the party will announce any protest programme, Ripon said: “Party high command will take decision.”
The party urged Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission to revise the prices of gas and electricity after holding a mass hearing.
