A Dhaka court has issued arrest warrant against 33 BNP leaders and activists, including Joint Secretary-General Amanullah Aman and Standing Committee Member barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah in an arson case.
Dhaka Special Tribunal-1 Judge Md Kamrul Hossain Monday passed the order, taking into cognisance the charge sheet in the case filed over hurling petrol bomb at a bus near Sony Cinema Hall in Mirpur.
The court also asked the police to submit a progress report on the arrest warrant by August 3.
Miscreants hurled petrol bomb at bus in the capital's Mirpur 2 area on January 25.
Mirpur police station ASI Khandker Rajib Ahmed filed a case under explosive act in the connection the same day.
On March 19, Mirpur police station ASI Rafiqul Islam, also the IO of the case submitted the charge sheet against 36 BNP members, including BNP Joint Secretary-General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah, Amanullah Aman, Khaleda's special assistant Shamshur Rahman Shimul Biswas and Khaldea's Press Secretary Maruf Kamal Khan Sohel.
Of the charge sheeted accused, three BNP members, including Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, have already been shown arrested in the case.
The court Monday issued arrest warrant against 33 others charge sheeted accused in the case as they were shown fugitives in the charge sheet.
