Khaleda pays homage to Zia

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has paid homage to the party founder and late president Ziaur Rahman’s grave.

Khaleda Zia along with party’s senior leader placed wreaths at the party founder’s grave around 12 noon Saturday.

The BNP and its front bodies have chalked out an elaborate programme for 14 days to observe the party founder’s death anniversary.

Though the death anniversary is on May 30, its observance already started on May 28 through a discussion at Engineers Institute where Zia’s wife Khaleda Zia was present in the audience.

BNP has planned programmes including discussions, wearing black badges, publishing posters and supplements in newspapers, distributing food among the destitute, and voluntary blood donation.

Ziaur Rahman was assassinated by a group of military officials on the day in 1981 at Chittagong Circuit House and since then the party observed the day as “Sahadat Day.”
