Former lawmaker and Awami League Advisory Council member AKM Rahmatullah passed away early Wednesday while undergoing treatment at Square Hospital in Dhaka. He was 76.
He breathed his last at 3:45am after a prolonged illness, family members said.
Following his death, his body was taken to his residence in Beraid, Badda.
His funeral prayer is scheduled to be held at Beraid Ground at 4pm on Wednesday. He will later be laid to rest at the family graveyard there.
Rahmatullah was a member of the Awami League Advisory Council until his death. He also served as president of Dhaka Metropolitan North Awami League.
During his long political career, he was elected to parliament five times and represented his constituency in the Jatiya Sangsad.
