Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus on Saturday expressed his condolences over the death of former president AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury, acknowledging his significant role in the country’s democratic transition in the 1990s.
He said the nation had lost a distinguished public servant and a respected politician.
"I pray for the departed soul. May Allah grant him a beautiful place in Jannatul Firdaus," the chief adviser said in a condolence message.
In the message, he reflected on Badruddoza Chowdhury’s long and widely respected career as both a physician and a public servant.
Dr Badruddoza spread the message of well-being and good health as an eminent doctor in the country. His Apnar Doctor program on BTV was a must-watch for millions of viewers, Yunus noted.
"He brought the same level of dedication when he entered politics. As a five-time member of parliament, he played a key role in the country’s democratic transition in the 1990s. His speeches in parliament were praised by politicians across the political spectrum," Prof Yunus added.
The Chief Adviser expressed hope that Chowdhury’s family members, relatives, and friends would find the strength to bear the loss. He also urged the public to learn from his life and "dedicate themselves to the welfare of the people and democracy."
