Sunday is the 5th anniversary of the death of the late Dr Shaikh Maqsood Ali, former secretary of the Ministry of Relief and Rehabilitation.
On this day in 2019, he passed away at United Hospital at the age of 85.
Maqsood Ali was the founder and rector of the Bangladesh Public Administration Training Center (BPATC).
He started his career as a lecturer in the Economics Department of Dhaka University in 1957. Later, he joined the civil service in 1959 and served the government of Bangladesh till his retirement in 1993.
In his long career, he served different government organizations like Planning Commission, Ministry of Relief and Rehabilitation, Ministry of Shipping, IWT & Aviation and so on.
He passed his M A in Economics in first class from the University of Dhaka in 1956. He went on to earn another M A in Economics and a PhD from the University of Manchester in 1972.
His wife, late Dr Sofia Hasna Jahan Ali was a professor of the Economics Department at Dhaka University.
