Composer Ali Akbar Rupu dies

Ali Akbar Rupu, the renowned music composer and director, breathed his last around 12:40pm at United Hospital on Thursday. He was undergoing treatment at the hospital for complications related to heart disease – he was suffering from it for a long time. His kidney was also highly affected; he underwent dialysis for seven months. Ali Akbar’s wife, Nargis Akbar, informed that his first namaz-e-janaza will take place at Gulshan Azad Masjid and from there his body will be taken to Banglavision’s office. After his second namaz-e-janaza, his body will be buried at Azimpur graveyard. Ali Akbar, who is well-known for his long affiliation with the show “Ittadi,” composed numerous of songs for the show. From the long list of his collection, some of his noteworthy songs include: Sabina Yasmin’s “Protiti Shishur Mukhe Hashi,” Andrew Kishore’s “Padmapatar pani noy,” and Murad’s “Ami Ager Thikanay achhi.” He started his career as a keyboard musician and guitarist.
