BNP reserved-seat MP Ferdousi Ahmed Misty met with National Parliament Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed at his office on Thursday amid speculation over her resignation.
She went to the Speaker’s office at around 1:45pm and left Parliament shortly after the meeting.
Asked by reporters whether she had resigned, Ferdousi said, “I came to speak to the Speaker, and I have spoken to him.”
When asked whether she had submitted her resignation, she declined to answer and left the premises.
“Let there be an investigation,” she said when asked about the resignation.
Asked again whether she had submitted a resignation letter, she said, “Whatever decision the BNP takes will be followed.”
The Speaker’s office has yet to make any official statement.
However, Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni confirmed to Dhaka Tribune that Mishti had submitted her resignation letter to Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed.
