State minister: 468,220 govt posts remain vacant

A total of 468,220 posts in government service remain vacant, according to the latest updated data on public sector staffing as of December 31, 2023. Currently, 1,450,891 employees are in service across the country.

State Minister for Public Administration, Md Abdul Bari, disclosed the information in Parliament on Wednesday in response to a question from MP Sheikh Md Rezaul Islam.

He said that, based on the latest Statistics of Public Servants 2024, there are 190,773 first-class officers currently in service, with 68,884 posts vacant in this category.

In the second class, 233,726 officials are employed, with 129,166 vacancies. In the third class, 613,835 employees are in service, while 146,799 posts remain vacant.

The fourth class has 404,557 employees, while other categories account for 7,980 staff. Vacancies in these categories stand at 115,235 and 8,136 respectively.
