The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Planning Ministry on Sunday urged the government to appoint expert officials as project directors.
The parliamentary watchdog also asked not to appoint an official as director for more than one project to ensure accountability and transparency, said a parliament press release.
The recommendation came from the committee's 13th meeting, held at parliament with Committee Chairman Abul Kalam Azad in the chair.
The parliamentary body also suggested providing car facilities for Upazila-level officials of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED).
The meeting discussed the progress of projects undertaken under the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) in 2016-2017 fiscal year.
Committee members Planning Minister MA Mannan, Major (Retd) Rafiqul Islam Bir Uttam, Saber Hossain Chowdhury, Biren Sikder and Adiba Anjum Mita attended the meeting.
