Cabinet Secretary: Take action against lockdown violators

Cabinet Secretary Khondokar Anwarul Islam has asked the government officials and law enforcement agencies to take stern actions against the lockdown violators and those who ignore the health rules amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

He has also directed to enhance mobile court activities and stop plying of intercity vehicles and not allow entry and exit of any transport except essential good-laden trucks from one district to another in the areas under lockdown.

The secretary issued the directive while virtually presiding over a review meeting with Khulna divisional and district administrations, law enforcement agencies, health department, professional bodies and local elites on Monday night.

Quoting from the holy Hadith and describing Islamic history and role of the great prophet Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH) during the pandemic situation, the cabinet secretary asked the government officials to request Islamic scholars, imams and khatib of mosques to discuss the use of mask and sanitiser and maintaining social distance during khutba in next three or four holy Jumma prayers.

Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Ismail Hossain, Deputy Inspector General of Khulna Range Police (DIG) Dr Khondokar Mohid Uddin, Director of Divisional Health Dr Rasheda Sultana, Khulna Press Club President SM Zahid Hossain, deputy commissioners, superintendent of police, civil surgeons, Awami League leaders and local elites, among others, addressed the meeting.

Members of the Coronavirus Prevention Management Committee of all 10 districts in the division also attended the meeting.
