Police: 1 killed in Brahmanbaria gunfight

A suspected drug dealer has been killed in an alleged gunfight with police in Brahmanbaria’s Kasba upazila. The man has been identified as Yusuf Mia, 28. Kasba police's Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Mohiuddin said a police team raided Yusuf’s hideout in Kuti union around 2:30am Saturday acting on a tip-off. According to police, Yusuf and his companions fired off a few rounds when police approached the place, leading to a skirmish. OC Mohiuddin said Yusuf was hit by bullets during the gunfight and later succumbed to his injuries. Three policemen – Sub-Inspector Monir Hossain, Constable Ibrahim and Nazrul Islam – were also injured, he added. Police say they recovered 135kg cannabis and a pipe-gun from the scene.
