DU student killed in Cox’s Bazar landslide

A student of Dhaka University was killed in a landslide when he went to see the Himchhari waterfall in Cox’s Bazar on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased is Ridwanul Alam Sabbir, a second year student of the university’s Marketing Department.
Two others—Rahat Alam, 24, and Md Ibrahim, 21-- of the same department received minor injuries in the incident.
Dr Imran Uddin Rubel of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital said members of the army rescued Sabbir and the duo and took them to the hospital around 4pm.
Sabbir, aged around 20, was brought dead, the physician said, adding, the injured were released after primary treatment.
The three youths fell victim to a landslide, he said quoting the army men.
Mentionable, a team comprising at least ten students of the university had come to Cox’s Bazar on a tour three days ago. Then, they boarded an army resort in the area.
