The five-day “BSCIC Autumn Fair 2026” began at the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) headquarters in Tejgaon, Dhaka, on Wednesday, aiming to promote locally produced goods and expand markets for cottage, micro, small and medium enterprises.
Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, MP from Dhaka-3, inaugurated the fair, which will continue until October 11.
He said Bangladesh’s artisans possess significant creative talent, but greater promotion and marketing support is needed to expand the cottage industry market.
He highlighted traditional products such as Nakshi Kantha, Shital Pati, pottery and terracotta, saying demand for such products remains strong and the sector also creates employment, particularly for women working from home.
Industries Secretary Abdun Naser Khan said BSCIC would continue supporting CMSME entrepreneurs through training, promotion and market expansion.
BSCIC Chairman Benazir Ahmed said the corporation plans to organise fairs every month to promote entrepreneurs and their products.
The fair features 60 stalls displaying textiles, jute goods, jewellery, food products, leather goods, honey and home décor.
Seven stalls feature GI products, including Jamdani, Shital Pati, Nakshi Kantha and Rajshahi Silk.
