Three killed in bus-truck collision in Tangail

Three people, including a child, were killed and at least 17 others were injured after a passenger bus collided with a truck in Madhupur upazila of Tangail at around 10pm on Thursday.

The accident occurred in the Raktipara area on the Tangail–Mymensingh highway. The identities of the deceased could not be confirmed immediately.

Police and members of the Madhupur Fire Service said a Crown Deluxe passenger bus was travelling from Dhaka to Madarganj when it collided with a sand-laden truck heading toward Tangail after reaching the Raktipara area.

Three people, including a child, were killed on the spot, while at least 17 others sustained injuries. Fire Service personnel rescued 4 injured people and sent them to a hospital.

Mohammad Borhan Ali, station officer of Madhupur Fire Service, said: “After receiving the information, we recovered the bodies and handed them over to the police.”

AKM Fazlul Haque, officer-in-charge of Madhupur Police Station, said: “We are trying to identify the deceased. After completing the legal procedures, the bodies will be handed over to their relatives.”
