Three more children died of measles symptoms in Sylhet in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll from measles and measles-like symptoms in the division to 103.
The three children died while undergoing treatment at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, Sylhet Divisional Office of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said on Monday.
Assistant Director of Sylhet Health Department Dr Noor-e-Alam said two of the deceased children, both under the age of two, were from Sunamganj, while the other was from Habiganj. Of the 103 victims who have died so far in Sylhet division, one was an adult and the rest were children.
Sunamganj has recorded the highest number of deaths in the division, with 47 children losing their lives so far. Besides, 35 deaths were reported in Sylhet, 12 in Moulvibazar and nine in Habiganj.
Meanwhile, 265 patients with measles symptoms are currently undergoing treatment at different hospitals across Sylhet Division.
According to the health department, a total of 534 laboratory-confirmed measles cases have been identified in the division since January 1, 2026. In the last 24 hours, 57 more patients with measles symptoms have been admitted to hospitals in Sylhet.
Authorities at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital said all-out efforts are being made to ensure proper treatment for patients. A total of 20 ICU beds have been set up at Osmani Medical College Hospital and 14 at Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital.
