Special medical campaign launched for flood victims in Moulvibazar

A special medical campaign and free medicine distribution program has been launched in Sadar upazila of Moulvibazar to provide healthcare services to flood-affected people.

The program has been launched under the overall supervision of Sylhet Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Dr Md Zillur Rahman.

The humanitarian initiative was inaugurated on Thursday at the premises adjacent to the shrine of Hazrat Shah Haji Kamal Uddin (RA) in Guzarai village under Chandnighat Union of Sadar Upazila in Moulvibazar.

The Moulvibazar District Police organized the initiative to ensure medical care for residents stranded by floodwaters and exposed to increased health risks. A team of experienced physicians is conducting health check-ups, providing medical consultations, and distributing essential medicines free of charge to patients.

Medical officers from the Moulvibazar Police Hospital, along with the district's medical team, are delivering healthcare services directly in the field.

Officials said the program is part of an ongoing effort, with similar special medical camps to be gradually expanded to other flood-hit areas across the district.

Local residents said the risk of waterborne diseases and other health complications has increased due to the shortage of safe drinking water and poor sanitary conditions. They described the police-led medical camp as a major relief for people facing the ongoing crisis.

Bangladesh Police has continued to support vulnerable communities throughout the disaster as part of its humanitarian commitment.

DIG Dr Md Zillur Rahman said such public welfare initiatives would continue to help ease the suffering of flood victims and ensure their access to essential healthcare services.
