Bodies of 5 Bangladeshis killed in Qatar road crash arrive home

The bodies of five Bangladeshi migrant workers from Kanaighat upazila in Sylhet, who were killed in a road accident in Qatar, arrived in the country on Tuesday morning.

The bodies reached Sylhet Osmani International Airport at around 7:30am on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight (BG-226).

Officials said the bodies were repatriated with financial support from the government's Wage Earners' Welfare Board.

A representative of the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment received the bodies at the airport, as the adviser to the ministry was unable to attend due to official engagements.

Qatar Khelafat Majlis President Maulana Abdul Hasib Chowdhury also accompanied the bodies from Qatar.

Among those present at the airport were Sylhet-5 MP Mufti Mohammad Abul Hasan, along with leaders of the BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami and Khelafat Majlis.

The five migrant workers were killed in a road accident in Qatar's Shahaniya area on June 20 while travelling to work.

The deceased were identified as Mostaq Ahmed, 30, son of Salim Ullah of Majhtaluk village; Zubayer Ahmed, 30, son of the late Ahsan Ullah; Jasim Uddin, 30, son of Siraj Uddin of Agtaluk village; Jibal Ahmed, 36, son of Abdun Noor of Amrpur village; and Qadir Ahmed, 24, son of Bahar Uddin of Nayagram in Dakshin Banigram union.

Airport sources said the bodies were handed over to their families after completing the necessary formalities.
