A tourist has gone missing after entering the sea for a swim at Inani Beach in Cox's Bazar on Saturday, prompting a search and rescue operation.
The incident occurred around 12:30pm on the southern side of Sea Pearl Beach Resort & Spa at Inani Beach.
The missing man has been identified as Mohammad Sayem, son of Mohammad Iqbal, a resident of the Kuwaish area in Hathazari upazila of Chittagong.
According to Sayem's friend, Arman, the two entered the sea together around noon. At one point during their swim, Sayem was pulled underwater by the waves and disappeared from sight.
Beach worker Nazim said local residents, beach staff, and other responders rushed to the scene after hearing Arman's calls for help and launched a joint search operation. Rescue efforts were still underway at the time of filing this report.
