Tuku: No place for fascists in Bangladesh’s politics

State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku has said that all political forces must remain united to build Bangladesh and ensure that fascism finds no place in the country’s politics.

“People elected us through their votes. Those of us who engage in politics must uphold our ideals. To build the Bangladesh of tomorrow, we must move forward together in unity,” he said.

Tuku made the remarks on Saturday afternoon while addressing a discussion meeting organized at Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) in Tangail, marking the 45th martyrdom anniversary of former President Ziaur Rahman.

During his speech, he said that former President Ziaur Rahman had united the nation, while Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had divided it. He also alleged that a certain group that once stood united in political movements has now begun making contradictory statements and is once again thinking in terms of divisive politics.

“Those who participated in movements against fascism are now trying to create disunity among themselves. We who fought together against fascism must remain united so that fascism can never again find shelter in Bangladesh’s politics,” he said.
