PM Tarique inaugurates Family Card program in Srimangal

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Wednesday inaugurated the third phase of the government's Family Card program by distributing cards among 155 families in Ward No. 1 of Mirzapur Union under Sreemangal upazila in Moulvibazar.

The inauguration took place at Victoria High School ground in Sreemangal, where the prime minister formally launched the program by pressing a computer switch after handing over cards to 10 beneficiaries.

Under the program, each beneficiary family will receive a monthly allowance of Tk2,500.

The allowance will be disbursed through mobile financial services or bank accounts, based on the beneficiaries' preference, allowing recipients to access the funds from home.

The 155 families in Sreemangal are receiving the allowance on a pilot basis under the first phase of the program.

Despite rainy weather, the prime minister arrived in Sreemangal at around 1pm to attend the event.

According to the schedule, he was also expected to attend another Family Card distribution program at Moulvibazar Government High School ground at 2:30pm, where cards would be distributed among 152 families in Ward No. 7 of Tengra Union under Rajnagar upazila.

Tarique had previously visited Moulvibazar during the campaign period ahead of the February 12 election.
