KCC to take legal action against negligence in cleanliness duties

A discussion meeting on the dengue situation and prevention activities was held on Sunday at the Shahid Altaf Auditorium of Khulna City Corporation (KCC).

KCC Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju attended the program as the chief guest.

He said that the city corporation has been engaging with people from all walks of life following directives to strengthen dengue prevention efforts in the city. He warned that dengue cases could increase this year if effective measures are not taken, noting that many children lost their lives to the disease last year.

“We are working to ensure awareness is spread through everyone’s participation. We will implement all constructive proposals related to schools and seek cooperation from all stakeholders. If each of us performs our responsibilities properly, the burden on the city corporation will be reduced,” he said.

On waste management, the administrator said the KCC is working to develop a modern waste management system, taking inspiration from Rajshahi city. He added that the city corporation may introduce a system to purchase plastic and polythene waste.

He also stressed the need for improved market management and proper cleaning of drains and waterlogging-prone areas. “Legal action will be taken against those who neglect their duties,” he warned, adding that collective efforts are essential to keep the city clean and livable.
