Mujib Bahini Commander Ali Hossain Moni passes away

Ali Hossain Moni, the commander of the Mujib Bahini in the greater Jessore region during Bangladesh’s Liberation War, has passed away at the age of 81.

He breathed his last at around 6:30am on Friday while undergoing treatment at Jessore General Hospital. He had been admitted to the 250-bed hospital on Monday after falling seriously ill and was shifted to the ICU the following night as his condition deteriorated.

According to family members, Moni had been suffering from multiple age-related illnesses, including heart, kidney and respiratory complications. He was first admitted to the hospital’s Coronary Care Unit. Later, he was transferred to a private hospital in Dhaka for advanced treatment. After a brief recovery, he returned to Jessore but was hospitalized again when his health worsened.
