The Bangladesh Coast Guard arrested two suspected drug traffickers and seized 15,000 Yaba tablets worth an estimated Tk 75 lakh during a drive in Teknaf on Wednesday.
The operation was carried out around 1pm in the Naf River near Keruntali under Teknaf Police Station following a tip-off, Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander SabbirAlamSujon said in a statement.
Coast Guard personnel intercepted and searched a suspicious dinghy boat, recovering the Yaba tablets and detaining the two suspects on the spot.
The seized drugs, the boat used in the smuggling attempt, and the detainees are being handed over for further legal proceedings.
The Coast Guard said it would continue its anti-narcotics operations to curb drug trafficking and prevent the spread of illegal drugs in the country.
