State Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Habibur Rashid on Thursday said the government has taken an initiative to build underpasses and overpasses at railway level crossings in Dhaka and other parts of the country to ease traffic congestion.
He made the remarks while speaking to journalists at a views-exchange meeting held at the Mymensingh City Corporation auditorium in the afternoon after inspecting several roads and railway stations in Mymensingh.
Habibur said land acquisition complexities remain one of the biggest obstacles to development work in the country.
“Government land is limited, and acquiring private land takes a long time. This is why work on the Dhaka-Sylhet route cannot move forward,” he said.
Earlier, the state minister inaugurated the distribution of health cards among underprivileged people in the city corporation area.
Mymensingh-4 lawmaker Md Abu Wahab Akand Wahid, Mymensingh City Corporation Administrator Rukunuzzaman Rokon, and senior officials from different departments were present.
