Two ice cream factories fined in Satkhira 

A mobile court has fined two ice cream manufacturing establishments a total of Tk 2 lakh during an anti-adulteration drive conducted in Debhata upazila of Satkhira.

The operation was carried out on Tuesday in the Parulia area under Debhata Police Station by a joint team led by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-6, CPC-1, Satkhira) and the district administration, acting on confidential information.

According to Additional Superintendent of Police and Acting Company Commander of RAB-6 CPC-1 Satkhira, Zayen Uddin Muhammad Ziyad, the drive uncovered the production of adulterated and potentially harmful food products.

During the operation, Shila Ice Cream was fined Tk 1 lakh under Sections 41 and 42 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009 for manufacturing adulterated products and using substances deemed hazardous to public health.

Another establishment, Medina Ice Cream, was also fined Tk 1 lakh under Sections 41 and 43 of the same law for producing adulterated products and operating through unauthorized production practices.

Executive Magistrate Saiful Islam was present during the drive.

Officials said the anti-adulteration campaign is part of an ongoing effort to ensure food safety and protect consumers from harmful products.
