Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday said the government will introduce LPG cards for women to ease cooking and reduce household hardship.
He made the announcement at a rally after inaugurating the re-excavation of the Ulshi canal in Sharsha upazila of Jessore on Monday.
The prime minister said Family Cards had already been introduced to promote women’s self-reliance, adding that LPG cards would be rolled out as the next initiative.
Referring to farmers, he said they are a source of national pride, noting that agricultural loans of up to Tk10,000 have been waived to support them.
On the July Charter, he said every line and word would be implemented.
Earlier, the prime minister arrived at Jessore Airport at 10:15am and went straight to Sharsha to inaugurate the canal project.
According to the schedule, after returning from Sharsha, he will take a short break at the Jessore Circuit House before laying the foundation stone of Jessore Medical College Hospital in the afternoon.
He is also scheduled to address a public rally at the Jessore Central Eidgah ground.
The prime minister is expected to return to Dhaka in the evening after departing from Jessore Airport.
