Prime Minister Tarique Rahman arrived in Jessore on Monday morning to inaugurate the Ulashi Canal excavation project and attend various programmes, including a public rally and civic reception.
Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon said Tarique landed at Jessore Airport around 10:20am on a domestic flight.
During the day-long visit, Tarique will inaugurate Ulashi Canal excavation project in Sharsha upazila and address a civic reception there.
Later, after offering Zuhr prayers and having lunch at the Jessore Circuit House, he will lay the foundation stone of Jessore Medical College Hospital and visit Jessore Institute Public Library.
In the afternoon, Tarique will address a public rally at Jessore Central Eidgah Ground, organised by the district BNP.
The Prime Minister is expected to return to Dhaka by air in the evening after completing his programmes.
This is Tarique Rahman's first visit to Jessore since assuming office as Prime Minister.
He last visited the district on February 2, when he addressed an election rally at Jessore Upashahar Degree College Ground as BNP chairperson.
