1 killed in clash over paddy harvest in Khulna

A man named Nur Alam was killed and four others were injured in a violent clash over a dispute involving paddy harvesting in Terkhada upazila of Khulna on Saturday morning.

The injured—Musa (30), Sohel Rana (50), Mofiz Munshi (30), and Dhala Fakir (30)—are being treated at Khulna Medical College Hospital.

The incident occurred around 7am in front of the house of Amjad Hossain in Madhupur village.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) SM Al Beruni confirmed the incident.

According to Terkhada Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shahidul Islam, the clash broke out between two local groups led by Shahidul and Saiful Morol over harvesting paddy from a field near Amjad Hossain’s residence. The dispute had reportedly been ongoing for some time, and both groups are linked to BNP politics.

Five people were seriously injured in the clash and taken to hospital, where Nur Alam later died around noon.

Police said operations are underway to arrest those involved in the incident.
