A listed drug dealer was arrested in Jessore with 300 Yaba tablets on Friday. He was identified as Ziaur Rahman, son of Adam Ali from Bara Achra village under Benapole Port Police Station.
The District Detective Police detained him Friday morning from the Navaron Old Market area in Sharsha upazila. During the drive, authorities also recovered Tk 1,9.74 lakh believed to be proceeds from drug sales.
The information was disclosed at a press briefing held at 2:30 pm at the Police Superintendent’s conference room by Additional Superintendent of Police and district police spokesperson Abul Bashar.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of detectives conducted an operation in the rail crossing area of Sharsha Old Market in Kundipur village. Sensing the presence of law enforcement, Ziaur Rahman attempted to flee but was apprehended. At the scene, police recovered 100 yaba tablets from his possession.
Based on his confession, an additional 200 yaba tablets and Tk 1,9.74 lakh in cash were later recovered from his residence. A case has been filed against him under the Narcotics Control Act.
