World Health Day observed across country 

World Health Day was observed across the country on Tuesday under the theme ‘Together for Health, Stand with Science’.

In Rajshahi, to mark the day, a colorful rally was brought out from in front of the Civil Surgeon’s Office. This was followed by a discussion meeting held in the office’s conference room, where speakers stressed the importance of strengthening science-based initiatives in healthcare, reports our Rajshahi correspondent. 

The chief guest, Civil Surgeon Dr SIM Raziul Karim, highlighted that there is no alternative to scientific healthcare services, the use of modern technology, and increased public awareness to ensure the well-being of people. He emphasized the need to make the healthcare system more science-oriented to ensure preventive measures, early disease detection, and effective treatment.

The event was organized by the Civil Surgeon’s Office, Rajshahi, with support from several organizations, including BRAC, BHP, DASCOH, Tilottoma Women’s Voluntary Organization, RIC, Dhaka Ahsania Mission, FPAB, Diner Alo, Bachar Asha, Prochesta Welfare Organization, SWN, Damien Foundation, AHF, and APOS Rajshahi.

The discussion was moderated by Medical Officer Dr SM Bayezid Ul Islam. Among the speakers were Additional Deputy Commissioner Belayet Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Police Shariful Islam, Additional Deputy Police Commissioner Nasid Farhad, and WHO representative Dr Mahiuddin Sharif.

Also present were Medical Officers Dr Nasrin Akter and Dr Tamanna Kabir, BRAC District Coordinator Mohsin Ali, Assistant District Coordinator Farzana Parvin, BRAC Health Program Area Manager Md Masudur Rahman, Program Officer Rezaul Karim, President of Diner Alo Hijra Association Mohona, APOS Program Manager SM Abdullah Al Reza, along with officials from various government and non-government organizations.

Speakers at the event noted that ensuring safe and quality healthcare for all requires integrating scientific knowledge, research, and technology at every level of the healthcare system. They also emphasized that building a healthy and secure society demands coordinated efforts from the government, the health sector, and development organizations.

According to reports of our Naogaon correspondent, the was observed in the district with a rally and a discussion meeting.

Following the rally, a discussion meeting was held at the conference room of the civil surgeon’s office. The event was presided over by Civil Surgeon Dr Md Aminul Islam.

Among others, Principal of Naogaon Medical College Dr Muktar Hossain, President of Naogaon BMA Professor Dr Iskander Hossain, Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Munir Ali Akand, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Mushfiqur Rahman, and Abdur Rouf Pavel, a representative of the local development organization Moushumi, addressed the meeting.

In Manikganj, the day was observed in a befitting manner, with a focus on promoting science-driven healthcare to ensure protection for all.

A colourful rally was brought out from the Civil Surgeon Office premises and paraded through key roads in the Manikganj bus stand area before concluding at the starting point. The rally was led by Civil Surgeon Dr AKM Mofakhkharul Islam.

Following the rally, a discussion meeting was held at the conference room of the Civil Surgeon Office, with Dr Mofakhkharul Islam presiding over the function, reports BSS.

The speakers stressed that proper utilization of scientific advancements in healthcare services can ensure safer and more sustainable medical care. 

They also emphasized the need to raise awareness among the general public about health issues and access to modern healthcare services.

Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mohammad Nazmul Hasan Khan, Additional Superintendent of Police Mohoram Ali, Deputy Director of Family Planning Zakia Akter, Acting Superintendent of 250-bed Manikganj Sadar Hospital Dr Shah Alamgir, Assistant Director Dr Badrul Alam and Manikganj Press Club President Zahangir Alam Biswas addressed the event.
