The district administration has appointed 85 tag officers at fuel filling stations to monitor the fuel supply situation in Rangpur. Officers-in-Charge have been supervising the stations since Monday morning.
Deputy Commissioner Enamul Ahsan said these 85 officials, representing various levels, are assigned to supervise fuel sales daily across the district.
Despite this, local sources report ongoing fuel shortages in Rangpur. Hundreds of motorcycles and cars have been seen queuing at pumps, with many customers waiting for hours and leaving without fuel. Some blamed greedy and unfair traders for creating artificial shortages, even as the government ensures a smooth supply, hoping the situation will normalize soon.
District depots reportedly hold 7,522 liters of diesel, 33,500 liters of petrol, 14,000 liters of octane, and 27,000 liters of kerosene. Due to security concerns amid high demand, Border Guard Bangladesh has been deployed at three depots. Increased daily demand has made timely supply challenging, according to Zakir Hossain Patwary of Meghna depot.
