The main Eid congregation in Chittagong city was held at the premises of the Jamiatul Falah National Mosque amid proper religious solemnity and a festive atmosphere.
After the prayers, a dua was offered, seeking prosperity for the country and nation as well as peace for the world.
The first Eid congregation was held at 8am on Saturday at the Jamiatul Falah National Mosque premises, followed by a second congregation at 8:45am. The first congregation was led by the khatib of the Jamiatul Falah National Mosque, Hazrat Allama Syed Abu Taleb Mohammad Alauddin Al Qaderi, while the second congregation was led by senior pesha imam Hafiz Maulana Mohammad Ahmadul Haque Al Qaderi.
Thousands of people of different ages attended the prayers. Residents from various parts of the city gathered at the venue to join the main Eid congregation. Children also attended the prayers with their guardians.
In the sermon delivered after the prayers, emphasis was placed on prayers for peace, prosperity and welfare of the country, the nation and the Muslim Ummah, along with the promotion of equality, brotherhood, tolerance and human values.
Among those who offered Eid prayers at the Jamiatul Falah Mosque premises were Chittagong City Corporation Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain, former minister Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin, MPs Mohammad Abu Sufian, Ershad Ullah and Saeed Al Noman, former mayor Mahmudul Islam Chowdhury, Sulaiman Alam Seth, along with other political figures and people from various walks of life.
Separately, the main Eid congregation organised by the Central Eid Congregation Committee was held at the MA Aziz Stadium Gymnasium ground at 8:30 am, where the imam was former principal of Baitush Sharaf Adarsh Kamil Madrasa, Hazrat Maulana Principal Dr Syed Muhammad Abu Noman.
Under the initiative of the Eid Congregation Committee, Eid prayers were held at 90 locations across the city.
Meanwhile, under the supervision of the Chittagong City Corporation, Eid congregations were held at 8:00 am at Lal Dighi Shahi Jame Mosque, Hazrat Sheikh Farid (R.) Chashma Eidgah Mosque, Sugandha Residential Area Jame Mosque, Chawkbazar City Corporation Jame Mosque, Johur Hawkers Market Jame Mosque, South Khulshi Residential Area Jame Mosque, Arefin Nagar Central Graveyard Jame Mosque, Sagarika Cattle Market Jame Mosque, and the Maa Ayesha Siddika CCC Jame Mosque adjacent to MA Aziz Stadium. Worshippers also joined Eid prayers at mosques across the city.
To ensure security, the Chittagong Metropolitan Police established a security cordon around the Jamiatul Falah Mosque area, while special patrols were intensified across the city to prevent any untoward incidents.
