With the 13th national election approaching, candidates have launched election campaigns in all eight parliamentary constituencies of Tangail. From village to town, the election atmosphere is becoming increasingly visible throughout the district.
As the Awami League is not participating in the election, both BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami are trying to woo voters. Political observers believe that internal divisions within the BNP and the presence of multiple candidates in several constituencies could significantly influence electoral equation.
Although posters and banners have not yet appeared prominently, candidates are actively engaging voters through opinion-exchange meetings, courtyard gatherings, sports tournament inaugurations, and prize distribution events.
Such campaign efforts have made electoral fields notably vibrant in the district. The Election Commission has issued repeated warnings, urging candidates and their supporters to follow the electoral code of conduct.
Digital and online platforms are being used extensively. In many instances, candidates are openly soliciting votes during courtyard meetings and discussion forums.
Although a total of 47 candidates are set to contest the election in eight constituencies, only about 31 are active in the field.
