The women’s hostel of Government Keshab Chandra (KC) College has been officially renamed Revolutionary Comrade Ila Mitra Girls’ Hostel, ending a movement that lasted over 15 years. The inauguration and unveiling of the name plaque were held on Tuesday, with Principal Prof Dr Md Abu Bakkar Siddique formally announcing the renaming. Teachers, department heads, and leaders of student and cultural organisations attended the event. Former student leaders later welcomed the decision, calling it a recognition of Ila Mitra’s life, struggles, and the legacy of the Nachol Peasant Uprising.
