The Jessore Battalion (BGB-49) has intensified security measures and search operations along all border areas of Jessore, including Benapole, following the shooting death of BNP leader Alamgir Hossain in Jessore town.
Alamgir Hossain, 55, was shot dead by miscreants in the Shankarpur area around 7:30pm on Saturday.
To prevent those involved in the killing from fleeing to India, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has strengthened surveillance and launched extensive search operations by setting up additional check posts along the Jessore border, particularly in the Benapole area.
According to BGB sources, patrols and intelligence surveillance have been increased in sensitive and high-risk border zones, while additional BGB personnel have been deployed. Surveillance has also been tightened along stretches of the border that lack barbed-wire fencing with India.
Lieutenant Colonel Saifullah Siddiqui, commander of the 49th BGB Battalion, said the force was on the highest alert to ensure the accused could not cross the border and escape.
“Search operations have been intensified at every point along the border to prevent those involved in the killing of BNP leader Alamgir Hossain from fleeing the country,” he said.
