Tarique Rahman to visit National Memorial Friday

Law enforcement agencies have beefed up security as BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will visit the National Memorial at Savar on Friday.

Sources said that BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will pay glowing tributes to the martyrs and those who sacrificed their lives in the Liberation War.

For this reason, the police have taken extra security measures in the memorial area. More than one thousand policemen will be deployed.

Anwar Hossain Khan Anu, In-charge of the National Martyrs’ Memorial and Sub-Assistant Engineer of Savar Public Works Department, said, “BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has returned to the country after a long time, and we have learnt that he will visit the National Memorial. For this reason, we have taken advance preparations.”

“As on normal days, the memorial is being kept clean for laying wreaths. Since Tarique Rahman will come, the areas likely to be used by guests will also be cleaned. We will sweep the entire complex and clean the lakes. If instructed, public access to the entire complex may be restricted. Police will also be deployed to ensure security at the memorial,” he added.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime, Operationss & Traffic North) of Dhaka, Arafatul Islam, said, “BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has returned to the country after a long time. Considering his security, special preparations have been taken. More than one thousand police personnel will be on duty. Along with regular uniformed police, traffic police, DB, and plainclothes police officers will also be deployed.”
