Armed Forces Day was celebrated at Rangpur Cantonment on Friday. At the programme marking the day, General Officer Commanding 66 Infantry Division and Area Commander Major General Kamrul Hasan said the whole nation is now looking towards an imminent free, fair and peaceful election.
He said that if the army and people stand together in unity and with patriotism, “we will be able to gift the nation an exemplary election, Insha’Allah.”
He praised the courage, support and heroic role of the people of Rangpur during the Liberation War and paid tribute to all martyrs.
Leaders of BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Andolon, NCP and other parties, freedom fighters, their families, distinguished citizens and journalists from Rangpur region attended the event.
